Sclerotherapy is a safe, well-established and highly effective cosmetic procedure to remove spider/thread veins, telangiectasis and associated reticular veins. Small needles are used to inject a solution directly into the spider veins, the suitable areas to treat are the legs, most common areas include the thighs, inside knees and the lower legs. Unfortunately thread veins found on the feet or ankles are NOT treatable due to the complex anatomy of veins, arteries and nerves. Facial thread veins are treated by short wave diathermy (see red vein removal).
The number of treatments required will depend on many factors, your aesthetician will carry out a full consultation prior to your treatment, fully exam your legs, explain aftercare and answer all of your questions. Typically 2-4 treatments are required over a period of 4-12 months.
